Seeing Life Through the Bottom of a Doritos Bag

I have lots going through my brain-housing group (my head) right now. There are a lot of experiences to process coupled with the reality that our world slows down for no one. Have you ever just found yourself starring at no particular area of space before you, thinking randomly as if you were a spectator? Yeah, me too…
Life has been very busy for a very long time. It seems that summer is almost half over and I don’t remember the transition from spring. We get caught up. It’s like we are either stuck in gear or out of gear and we need to do something to break the cycle, but what?
Time keeps on trucking along as if it has a destination it’s rushing toward. And we often jump on board thinking that we need to get there, now. But where is there? What are we after? What are we running from? Where are we escaping?
It’s good to have a different perspective.
Perspectives are important. We live in a 3-D world, and not simply on a linear plane. Not only is it good to have a different perspective, it is an absolute necessity. If you are only looking at life -- the obstacles, needs, desires, fulfillment, joys, concerns, tragedies, opportunities, accomplishments, failures, hopes, and dreams -- from a single perspective (your own) you will find nothing but frustration, weariness, and heartbreak.
And yet if we are truly following Jesus with our entire life we only have one direction to look -- to Christ alone. In other words, if we remained focused on Christ, we are not only able to see life from God’s perspective, but God allows us to see so much more. It’s like 4-D in living color, multi-sensory!
There are new experiences awaiting each of us. Can we see them from our current vantage?
Though the last 48 hours have yielded more than the unexpected, bringing about all kinds of emotions, Christ has a way of putting everything into perspective, if we look toward Him.
Last week I spent time seeing things from a different perspective by attending Creation 2009 in Pennsylvania. Not only did I learn some things but I also had the opportunity to process things from a whole different place, looking through a different lens. God works in strange ways, and you can find grace in the strangest of places if you are looking for it… Are you looking?
It’s amazing what you can see through the bottom of a Doritos bag.
